Lawyer: Woman Abused

  Ellen Snyder's co-worker gave her a gun to protect her from her husband after she showed up to work with bruises. That gun would later be used to fatally shoot her then-husband Michael Snyder, 43, eight times at the home the Snyders shared.

  Los Alamos National Laboratory is taking steps to reduce the risk of a potentially catastrophic radiation release should a major earthquake occur, according to a Feb. 2 letter from Energy Secretary Steven Chu to federal safety auditors.

  A Tijeras man allegedly shot and killed his roommate Friday. Kenneth Therrell, 52, was arrested and charged with murder after he called 911 and told police he shot his friend and roommate, Billy Williamson, according to a criminal complaint.

  SANTA FE — A proposed constitutional amendment that would outlaw gay marriage in New Mexico was rejected Saturday at its first committee stop.
