ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A nationwide warrant has been issued for a Las Cruces man wanted on charges of residential burglary, auto theft, stalking and larceny, Dona Ana County sheriff’s investigators told El Paso’s KTSM News Channel 9.
Ernest Bryan Barela, 31, was on probation for a 2008 child abuse conviction when he allegedly forced his way into the home of his former girlfriend on May 22, then reportedly took her car keys and drove off in the vehicle, KTSM reported.
He is believed to be driving the orange 2012 Dodge Journey SUV with New Mexico license plate 229 RLN, but could also be driving a 2003 Chevy Malibu with New Mexico license plate GLN 515 with possible body damage to the right front end, according to News Channel 9.
The New Mexico Probation and Parole Division on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant, revoking his probation without bond, and an arrest warrant had been issued on May 8 by Magistrate Court for two counts of assault and battery, the station reported.
Investigators believe Barela is still in Dona Ana County, who was last seen Wednesday in Las Cruces.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (575) 525-8806.
