Motorcyclist Critical After SE ABQ Accident

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police responded to a motorcycle-vehicle collision on Central east of Dorado Place SE that occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday and left the motorcyclist, 42-year-old Randy Romero, in critical condition, according to a police report.

Police said a gray Buick four-door sedan driven by 69-year-old Elizabeth Gavrielides was leaving a parking lot on the south side of Central to make a left turn onto westbound Central when the vehicle was struck by a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling east on Central in the middle lane, according to the report.

Romero, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition, the report said.
