A former Albuquerque teacher who pleaded guilty to having sex with a student was sentenced to one year of house arrest today, KOB reported.
Kristy Sanchez-Trujillo was a teacher at Jimmy Carter Middle School on the West Side when she admitted to police in 2009 that she had two sexual encounters with a 13-year-old student, taking him twice to a movie and having sex with him afterward in her vehicle at Petroglyph National Monument. She was 33 at the time.
In April, Sanchez-Trujillo pleaded guilty to counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, criminal sexual contact and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Sanchez-Trujillo’s year of house arrest will be followed by five to 20 years of probation, KOB said.
