The Taos News will be closed for business from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday to attend the funeral of former Spanish-language editor Jerry Padilla, who was found dead at his home last Friday night, The News reported. He was 59.
Padilla retired as editor in January after more than two decades with the newspaper, and he was honored in May by the Taos Historical Society for preserving and teaching the culture, language and history of Taos, the paper reported.
“I have lost a dear friend, and Taos has lost a great man,” Tempo editor Rick Romancito told The News.
The Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos, followed by a 10 a.m. service, the paper said.
