ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Friends and family of the 7-11 clerk who was shot and killed July 17 will say their last goodbyes Monday to the 36-year-old man who they remember in for his “quiet humor”, “sly smiles”, and “muttered-under-your-breath comical comments,” as family members wrote in a Journal obituary.
The clerk, Chad Mercer, was killed around 1 a.m. July 17 during an armed robbery.
Mercer served in the army four years until 2001, according to the obituary, and received the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon for his service in Bosnia and Germany.
“You had an incredibly gentle spirit and will always be in our hearts until we see you again,” family members wrote in the obituary.
The funeral is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel.
