Four suspected drug smugglers were arrested and 847 pounds of marijuana were seized in three separate incidents over a 48-hour period by El Paso sector Border Patrol agents in New Mexico and Texas, The Deming Headlight reported.

On Monday, agents at the Interstate 10 checkpoint west of Las Cruces seized approximately 367 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $293,600 and took one person into custody, according to The Headlight.

All the suspects were identified as citizens of Mexico and are currently being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center and the El Paso County Detention Facility pending criminal prosecution, the paper reported.
