Crash Leaves Motorcyclist Critical, Alcohol a Possible Factor

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A motorcyclist was critically injured in what appears to be an alcohol-related crash in Albuquerque early this morning, police said.

Johnny Sanchez, 40, was driving east on Avenida Cesar Chavez near Interstate 25 at about 1 a.m. when his motorcycle crashed into the curb, according to an APD email. Sanchez was thrown from the motorcycle, and he was taken to UNMH for head trauma.

Sanchez was not wearing a helmet, and police believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
