BREAKING: 1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on Broadway

8:03 p.m. –Police have identified the victim of the three-vehicle crash in the South Valley this afternoon as 74-year-old George Garcia, whose Hyundai Sonata veered into southbound traffic after rear-ending a Ford Mustang.

Garcia’s Sonata collided head-on in the southbound lane with a Chevrolet Tahoe, and the Tahoe’s driver is currently undergoing surgery for trauma sustained in the collision, according to Sheriff’s Office Cpt. Matt Thomas.

4:44 p.m. — A three-vehicle crash in the South Valley this afternoon killed one person and seriously injured another, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver of a Hyundai Sonata headed north on Broadway rear-ended a Ford Mustang, causing the Sonata to veer into southbound traffic and collide head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe, Cpt. Matt Thomas of the Sheriff’s Office said. The driver of the Sonata was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Tahoe was severely injured and taken to a hospital, Thomas said. The Mustang’s driver was uninjured.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

4:16 p.m. — A crash in the South Valley has left one dead this afternoon, BCSO said.

Two vehicles headed in opposite directions on Broadway near Murray Road crashed into each other head-on, said Cpt. Matt Thomas with BCSO. There was no other immediate information on any other occupants in either of the vehicles.

Broadway is currently closed between Prosperity Ave. and Bobby Foster Rd., Thomas said.
