Herrera says early voting so far has been low
Secretary of State Mary Herrera expects about 28 percent of eligible Democratic and Republican voters to cast ballots in next Tuesday’s primary election.
Herrera made the estimate Friday at a pre-election news conference. She said early voting has been low so far.
Early voting at satellite locations and county clerks’ offices continues through Saturday.
People who haven’t mailed in their absentee ballots can drop those off at their clerk’s office or their designated precinct polling place on Election Day.
In the 2006 gubernatorial primary, about 22 percent of registered voters cast ballots. Turnout was almost 34 percent in the 2002 gubernatorial primary election.
