A District Court ordered the maximum sentence of 90 days of monitored house arrest for a woman convicted of careless driving in the Jan. 10 death of cyclist Scott “Dwane” Lane.

Carol Svinarich also was ordered to pay a $300 fine and $17,560 in restitution to Lane’s family for medical and other expenses.

District Court Judge Reed Sheppard also ordered Svinarich to wear an ankle bracelet that can sense alcohol from perspiration during her home arrest. Svinarich was arrested Aug. 20 for first-offense driving while intoxicated. That case is scheduled for trial next month in Bernalillo County Metro Court.
