6 Vikes Are All-District

The following are the all-district selections for West Side Journal-area prep football teams for the 2012 season (first and second teams):

ATRISCO HERITAGE: In District 5-5A, the Jaguars had first-team choices in senior quarterback Nate Goode, senior linebacker Jeremy Sanchez, sophomore running back Ricci Alvidrez, sophomore defensive end James Romero and junior defensive tackle Joe Barreto.

Senior guard E.J. Marquez, junior cornerback Ezekial Katesigwa and senior corner Phillip LaCour were on the second team.

CIBOLA: In District 1-5A, senior two-way lineman Rick Ornelas, senior wide receiver Drew Janis and junior wide receiver Edgar Melchor were on the first team for the Cougars.

On the second team were junior quarterback Derek Martinez, junior fullback/linebacker Nik Molina and sophomore wide receiver Blair Manly.

RIO GRANDE: The Ravens had two first-team players in 5-5A — senior guard Adrian Aranda and junior linebacker Patrick Lucero.

Senior linebacker Cameron Sanchez was on the second team.

ST. PIUS: The Sartans had heavy representation on the first and second team in District 5-4A, which is just a three-team league.

Senior running back/outside linebacker Nic Stafford led the way on the first team.

He was joined by senior fullback T.J. Sanchez, senior wide receiver Daniel Sanchez, senior tackle Noah Griego, senior guard Joey Sandoval, junior defensive end Conor Brown, junior defensive tackle Emmanuel Chavez, senior cornerback Ryan Rosenthal and junior safety Javier Jaramillo.

On the second team were senior center Brandon Jim, senior tackle Hayden Wickens, Brown at tight end, Sanchez at defensive end, senior defensive tackle Carlos Gallegos, senior inside linebacker Jo Jo Saiz, senior outside linebacker Max Nilsson, senior safety Ryan Hernandez, Jaramillo at place-kicker and Rosenthal as a returner.

VALLEY: The 5-5A champions had half a dozen choices for the first team, led by junior quarterback Bo Coleman. He was joined by senior running back Esteban Loera, junior tackle Elijah Schold, senior nose tackle Kyle Nez, junior wide receiver Aaron Molina and senior linebacker Isaac Stevens.

Second-team selections were junior guard Alvaro Sanchez, junior center Seth Mello and junior outside linebacker Wes Bradshaw.

VOLCANO VISTA: Senior defensive back/wide receiver Joe Searcy-Ortega, senior fullback/linebacker Josh Lubold, senior offensive lineman Bryan Piatt and senior tight end Derek Cravens were the four Hawks named to 1-5A’s first team.

Four additional Hawks were on the second team: senior defensive end Isaiah Perry, senior quarterback Reid Hendricks, junior cornerback Brandon Madrid and junior wide receiver Connor Anderson.

WEST MESA: The Mustangs put four players on the first team in 5-5A: senior quarterback Dominic Davis, senior cornerback Gary Thibeaux, senior linebacker Travis Peterson and senior wide receiver Romolo Salazar.

Senior linebacker Marcus Bush and junior safety Mike Archuleta were named to the second team.
