ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sandoval County residents should expect to see more emergency vehicles in the area on Wednesday and Thursday.
The New Mexico Department of Health and the Sandoval County Office of Emergency Management will be conducting a full-scale exercise in the county, according to a Department of Health news release.
Activity will be taking place on Wednesday at the Health Commons center next to the county administration building at Idalia and N.M. 528 and on Thursday morning at Fire Station 21 on Santa Ana Pueblo, near Bernalillo.
The exercise is part of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Cities Readiness Initiative, which is designed to enhance preparedness in the nation’s largest cities and metro areas, the news release says.
“Through the Readiness Initiative, state and large metropolitan health departments have developed plans to respond to large-scale public health events by dispensing antibiotics to the entire population of an identified Metropolitan Statistical Area within 48 hours,” the news release reads.
