Apologies for the mediocre quality of the picture (no telephoto lens on my iPhone) but that is a trio of neotropic cormorants sitting in a tree on an island in one of the fishing ponds at Albuquerque’s Tingley Beach:

I counted five more kin down on the island, taking advantage of the morning sun. They’ve been there all winter, taking advantage of the stocked pond, sharing with the human fisherpeople lining the popular pond’s banks. If you want to go take a look, I’ve marked the spot on the map. If you’re lucky, you’ll see them grab a fish. That’s fun to watch.
