Residents will have a chance tonight to view the latest design planned for the reconstruction of Paseo del Norte and Interstate 25.
A host of local agencies are sponsoring a meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Courtyard Marriott at 5151 Journal Center NE. There will be a presentation at 7 p.m.
Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry said the design is now 30 percent complete. The project is substantially the same, but there have been a few revisions.
‘We want to make sure people have a chance to look at some of the changes we’ve made since the last preliminary design was done,” Berry said.
The new design makes its clear the flyover from northbound I-25 to westbound Paseo will have two lanes, for example.
Also moved was a lane that takes traffic from Jefferson onto Paseo. It used to be an inside lane, and now it’s an outside one.
More information is available at PaseoI25.com.
The plans include ramps from northbound I-25 to westbound Paseo and from eastbound Paseo to southbound I-25. An overpass would allow Paseo traffic to pass by Jefferson without stopping.
Other improvements are planned, too.
Tonight’s meeting is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, state Department of Transportation, city of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.
