Sundance picks up ‘Breaking Bad’ syndication

........................................................................................................................................................................................

The Sundance Channel just got “bad” — “Breaking Bad” that is.

According to a news release, the network has acquired syndication rights to seasons 1-4 of the series starring Bryan Cranston. The series is also filmed and shot in Albuquerque.

The network will run a marathon of the award-winning series beginning at 11 p.m. March 4.

“Breaking Bad” is the story of Walter H. White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at the beginning of the series. He turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, with the aim of securing his family’s financial future before he dies.

” ‘Breaking Bad’ has become a benchmark for storytelling at its finest and we are proud to air this series as we embark on our own scripted programming with the upcoming debut of ‘Rectify,’ which is produced by the same incredible team behind ‘Breaking Bad,’ ” Sundance Channel GM and Exec VP Sarah Barnett said in a statement. “We are looking forward to giving viewers another opportunity to catch up with what has been called TV’s best drama.”
