ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Pueblos will share more than $2 million in HUD grant funding
Laguna and Isleta pueblos will share more than $2 million in grant funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., said Wednesday.
A news release issued by the senator’s Washington office said the Laguna Housing Development and Management Enterprise will receive $1.5 million, while the Isleta Pueblo Housing Authority will receive $939, 337.
The money will be used to help provide affordable housing at the pueblos, according to the news release.
“Quality, affordable housing is out of reach for many people in our state and the problem is especially prevalent on tribal lands,” said Bingaman, who added that he is “pleased the federal government is making an investment” in the two pueblos.
