5:25am — Daughter Accused of Stealing Dad’s Debit Card

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Carlsbad woman, 23, allegedly lifted card from wallet and returned it four times, taking $1,200.

Jessica Marshall, 23, of Carlsbad, is charged with four counts each of residential burglary, theft of a debit card and fraudulent use of a debit card, after allegedly stealing her father’s card, withdrawing the maximum $300 from his bank account, then returning the card to his wallet four times, the Carlsbad Current-Argus reported.

According to a criminal complaint, the alleged thefts began in December 2007 and took place over the next three months, the Current-Argus said.

The father, Wallace Marshall, told police that his daughter wasn’t allowed in his home and that he had taken away her key before the alleged thefts began and that his children knew the personal identification number (PIN) for his bank account, the paper reported.

Bank surveillance cameras allegedly showed the woman using the card and withdrawing the money, the Current-Argus said.

Jessica Marshall, who was being held on a $5,000 bond, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled for a preliminary examination on Feb. 10, the paper reported.
