One dead in two-vehicle crash in Taos

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — One man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Taos, police told The Taos News.

Anthony J. Gutierrez, 67, was a passenger in a car driven by Peter Mondragon, who suffered “significant injuries” in the crash at Salazar Road and Camino de la Merced around 8 p.m. Saturday, Police Chief Ken Koch told The News.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene, the paper reported.

The driver of the second vehicle, Gareth Harrold, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, causing serious bodily injury with a vehicle and driving while intoxicated and was being held at the Taos County Adult Detention Center, Koch told The News.

Mondragon also is being investigated for driving while intoxicated, Koch said.
