SANTA FE — A man was arrested in Española on Wednesday morning after police responded to a call about someone breaking into cars.
As it turned out, one of the cars that was burglarized belonged to a State Police officer and another was an unmarked State Police car.
Officers called to the scene about 5:30 a.m. found Patrick Gallegos, 31, walking along the road holding a screwdriver.
Shoe patterns left in the dirt around the break-ins “had distinguishable patterns that matched those being worn by Gallegos,” a State Police news release said, Gallegos was arrested. He had six syringes, which Gallegos said he used to inject cocaine, the release said. No items were missing from the vehicles.
Gallegos faces several charges.
