Gov. Susana Martinez in Colorado today for fundraiser, business event

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Gov. Susana Martinez traveled to Denver this morning on a same-day trip that will include a lunch campaign fundraiser and an appearance at a separate afternoon business event.

Martinez’s gubernatorial re-election committee is paying the costs for the trip, said Jay McCleskey, the governor’s political consultant.

Martinez already has nearly $1.5 million on hand for her 2014 re-election campaign — about 15 times more money than her only Democratic challenger. The requested contribution to attend today’s lunch fundraiser with the governor is $500 per person, McCleskey said.

Meanwhile, the Republican governor will also speak this afternoon to Colorado business leaders about the tax package approved in New Mexico during this year’s legislative session.

That event, sponsored by the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry, will be held at Coors Field. Richard Monfort, the owner of the Colorado Rockies baseball team, will deliver the keynote address for the event.

The event is not considered to be campaign-related, McCleskey said.

Martinez is scheduled to return to New Mexico this evening.
