ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities have now recaptured both Bernalillo County jail inmates who escaped from a transport van in Albuquerque.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Williamson says 37-year-old Brandon Davis surrendered peacefully to deputies after he was located Tuesday.

The other escapee, 20-year-old Andreas Macias, was found hiding at his home in Albuquerque Monday night.

Macias and Davis escaped Monday while en route from court to the jail.

They escaped when the van stopped at a hospital to pick up an inmate who was being discharged and taken back to the jail.

Authorities say Macias and Davis kicked open the van’s back door and escaped on foot.

Authorities are looking for Brandon Davis, 37, after he escaped from a transport van with fellow inmate Andreas Macias, 20, about 6 p.m. today.

Macias was captured by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office about 7:45 p.m.

The two inmates were being transported from court when the van made a stop at the University of New Mexico Hospital to pick up another inmate. Macias and Davis kicked open the back door of the van and headed east on Lomas on foot.

The men were handcuffed but were not wearing the orange jail uniforms at the time. Macias was found by Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies in the 2200 block of San Ygnacio, hiding underneath a house, according to a Bernalillo County news release. Davis is still at large.
