About eight months ago, a golden eagle was nearly electrocuted near White Sands Missile Range. The bird was brought to the Santa Fe Raptor Center, which rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured birds such as the eagle, since named James Dean.

On Sunday, James Dean took to the sky near Taos, when he was released along the Rio Grande Gorge as a crowd cheered.
