Sheriff’s deputies are still on the scene of an overnight shooting on the 5300 block of Southfort SW, near Mountainview Elementary School, west of 2nd Street SW, according to KOAT-TV.

A homeowner is being questioned after shooting an intruder around midnight, according to Action 7 News.

The intruder, whose name has not been released, is reportedly in critical but stable condition at University of New Mexico Hospital, KOAT-TV said.

It is the third violent shooting in a roughly 24-hour period in the Albuquerque area.

Two men were shot, one fatally, in unrelated incidents Tuesday.

Detectives were looking for three to five men who were seen wearing jerseys and running from upper and lower Pat Hurley Park on the West Side on Tuesday afternoon. One man was shot there several times in the chest and back, and police could see a seemingly blood-covered handgun sitting in his car.

He was in stable condition.

Detectives also found six casings at the scene, though it’s unclear who fired at whom.

Also, 28-year-old Paul Ayala died from gunshot wounds in the hospital Tuesday morning after he was found lying unconscious in the parking lot at a Super 8 Motel on the 2500 block of University Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m. Police have no suspects and were questioning family and friends for any information about who could have killed the victim as of Tuesday evening.
