The New Mexico Stars have an opportunity to move into third place in the Lone Star Football League if they can beat visiting Abilene Saturday evening.
Kickoff at Santa Ana Star Center is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Stars (2-3) were idle last week, while Abilene (3-3) slipped to 0-2 in its road games after a 61-41 loss at first-place Amarillo (4-1).
The Bombers beat the Stars, 55-45, on April 13 in a game played in Abilene’s Taylor Expo Center. Quarterback Byron Ingram led the Bombers, throwing five touchdown passes and running in from the 1 for another score.
Next Saturday, the Stars travel to Laredo to play the second-place Rattlesnakes (4-2), which outlasted the Stars 75-74 in their first meeting, played April 6 at the Star Center.
The San Angelo Bandits (1-5), a team the Stars have beaten twice, reside in the LSFL basement.
