Three people were injured shortly after noon Monday at New Mexico Tech’s explosives research and testing facility south of Socorro, according to KOAT-TV.
A fire erupted at the facility about 12:25 p.m., burning one structure and threatening another before firefighters brought it under control.
One person was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital, and the other two were transported by vehicle. All three suffered burns and are expected to survive.
Investigators said the fire was human-caused and remains under investigation.
A fourth person twisted his knee while carrying the injured away from the fire.
