Bookstore hosts authors Shea Berkley, Darynda Jones, ‘Fire Season’ author Jane Lindskold
Alamosa Books will host local author Shea Berkley with her new fantasy novel, “The Fallen Prince,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13. She will be joined by authors Darynda Jones and Jane Lindskold . Jones, of Roswell, is the author of “Death, Doom and Detention” and Lindskold is the writer of “Fire Season.”
At 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15 Alamosa will welcome Oliver Prezant from the Santa Fe Opera to present a talk on “The Marriage of Figaro.” Prezant is a lecturer for the opera, the music director of the Santa Fe Community Orchestra and the artistic adviser to the ArtWorks program.
Alamosa Books is at the northwest corner of Paseo del Norte and Ventura NE.
AT BOOKWORKS: Jon Hovis , author of “Anasazi Ruin,” will be at the bookstore at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11. The book follows the life of a young man as he grows up during the high point of life in Chaco Canyon in 1100 A.D.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13 Cate McCabe will present “This New Mountain” at Bookworks. It is a memoir of Vinnie Ann “AJ” Jackson, a country girl with a go-to-hell attitude who must face her fears.
Author David Shawn will be at a “Sit & Sign” event at 7 p.m. Friday, June 14. His book “Primordial,” is billed as “not your little sister’s vampire book.”
Madeline Tapia will sign her book “Growing Up in Bernalillo” at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15. It looks at changes she and her family encountered over their decades of living in the town.

GARY HERRON SIGNS: Herron, the sports editor of the Rio Rancho Observer, will sign “Duke City Diamonds: Baseball in Albuquerque” from 1-3 p.m. today at Treasure House Books & Gifts, 2012 South Plaza NW in Old Town.
PAGE ONE EVENTS: Page One Bookstore will host a poetry open mic night at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11. The featured poet will be Barbara Rockman . Open mic nights are hosted by Kenneth P. Gurney and the diverse local poets of New Mexico. Thirty minutes of open mic will be followed by a poetry reading by Rockman. Sign up for the open mic starts at 6:45 p.m.
Desiree Mays will be at Page One at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 to talk about her latest nonfiction effort, “Opera Unveiled 2013,” which covers this year’s Santa Fe Opera season. She has been the resident speaker and storyteller for the opera since 1995.
Cass McMain , local author and houseplant enthusiast, will be at Page One at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15 to talk about and sign her new novel, “Sunflower,” which is being published in Britain. The book is about a man having a bad day and making one bad choice. But underneath that, it also is about his coming to terms with himself.
IN SANTA FE: Michael McGarrity , author of the Anthony Award-nominated “Tularosa,” will read from and sign his book “Hard Country” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Collected Works Bookstore and Coffeehouse. It is the story of one family’s struggle to settle and endure in the vast untamed New Mexico Territory.
Santa Fe Opera lecturer Oliver Prezant will speak on “Isn’t It Grand? (Jacques Offenbach’s ‘The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein’)” from 10-11:3 a.m. Saturday, June 15. The opera will be presented during the Santa Fe Opera’s upcoming season.
