All lanes of eastbound Interstate 40 have now been reopened.
One eastbound Interstate 40 has reopened at the Zuzax exit has reopened but traffic remains backed up for about five miles, said Tony Lynn, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety. I-40 has reopened at Eubank NE, he said.
Route 66 is open but heavy traffic is moving slowly, he said.
Two accidents on Interstate 40, at Eubank NE and the Zuzax exit, have closed traffic on eastbound lanes.
A 3 p.m. accident at the 177 mile marker at Zuzax closed eastbound lanes, Bernalillo County sheriff’s office reports. Eastbound I-40 is likely to remained closed for two hours at the site.
A second accident on I-40 at Eubank NE has closed eastbound lanes, according to the state Department of Transportation.
