ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — One of New Mexico’s most venerable brands is expanding into Texas.
Blake’s Lotaburger expects be serving up its famous hamburgers and fries in El Paso later this year.
The first El Paso-area Blake’s should open by this fall off of Mesa Street on the city’s West Side, according to Craig Wood, business development manager for the Albuquerque-based chain.
Wood said a few other El Paso locations are in the works, though the sites haven’t been settled.
Blake’s already has 76 locations spread among more than 25 New Mexico communities — including several in the southern part of the state — so Wood said moving into El Paso makes sense.
“A lot of people in El Paso already know who we are, and it works for our deliveries,” he said.
The El Paso expansion is just part of Lotaburger’s evolution.
