ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Border Patrol agents nab man wanted in 2001 murder near N.M.-Arizona state line.

U.S. Border Patrol agents out of Lordsburg last week arrested a 28-year-old man wanted in a 2001 slaying in Texas as he walked with a group of people along U.S. 80 about 20 miles south of Rodeo, the El Paso Times reported.

Benito Gonzalez-Serrano, who is from Mexico, is being held pending extradition to Texas where he is wanted on a July 21, 2001 capital murder warrant out of Ellis County, the Times reported.

A fingerprint verification system identified Gonzalez-Serrano as he was being processed by Border Patrol agents, and agents learned that he was wanted by authorities in Waxahachie, Texas, according to the Houston Chronicle
