A man with a semi-automatic handgun robbed BBVA Compass Bank at 6001 Academy Road NE on Tuesday afternoon, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a news release.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, mid-20s to 30 years old, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, with a slender to medium build, the FBI said.

He was wearing a red bandana covering the lower half of his face, sunglasses, a white baseball cap, black T-shirt and blue jeans when he walked into the bank around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday and pointed a gun at bank employees, according to the release.

The suspect demanded money from a teller, who handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the man left the bank, walking east on Academy Road NE.
