Santa Fe Police arrested actor Wes Studi early Friday morning, charging him with a single count of aggravated DWI.
Studi, 66, of Santa Fe, has appeared in such movies as “Avatar,” “The Last of the Mohicans,” “Heat” and “Street Fighter,” as well as two PBS movies based on New Mexico author Tony Hillerman’s mystery novels.
Police spokeswoman Celina Westervelt said officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Old Pecos Trail around 1a.m. A security guard in the area saw a Volvo with its two front tires blown out. When police arrived, according to an officer’s report, Studi was trying to repair or replace the damaged tires “in the middle of the road without the vehicle lights on.”
Westervelt said the actor admitted to drinking and driving, but that he refused to take breath or field sobriety tests.
Studi is booked in the Santa Fe County jail.
