ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque police credit two homeless men with helping police arrest a man after a city bus driver was assaulted.
Police say a man got on the bus Sunday, spat on the driver and hit him in the head with a rock.
According to police, the attacker got off and the homeless men followed and detained him until police arrived and arrested him.
Police said the homeless men told officers they were trying to do the right thing.
Police say the driver was taken to a hospital for observation of a head wound and that his alleged attacker was jailed on a charge of aggravated battery.
Police spokesman Simon Drobnik says the attack was retaliation for the driver asking the alleged attacker’s wife to get off the bus in the past.
