CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) — A former county district judge in Oklahoma faces 26 felony counts accusing him of participating in a cattle theft ring.

A statement Monday from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association says 48-year-old Craig Key of Chandler, Okla., is accused of charges that include embezzlement and cattle theft in April and May indictments unsealed Thursday.

The release states that 11 head of cattle were stolen from a Lincoln County, Okla., rancher at Key’s direction. Further investigations showed Key’s involvement in numerous fraud and embezzlement schemes, and the Oklahoma attorney general also is looking into Key.

Four others are also charged in connection with the cattle thefts.

Attempts to reach Key were unsuccessful Monday. He was released on bond Friday.
