ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Lobo middle linebacker Carmen Messina spent Monday night’s practice in a walking boot.
Coach Mike Locksley said after practice however, that Messina has a chance to play in Saturday’s home football opener against Texas Tech.
Messina suffered a high left ankle sprain in the first quarter of last weekend’s 72-0 loss at No. 11 Oregon and sat out the rest of the game.
Lobo trainer Dave Binder said Messina received about five hours of treatment on the ankle Monday and dramatically improved.
