Swim, run and race

The City of Albuquerque’s new Dash & Splash Series kicks off this weekend at West Mesa Aquatic Center.

The opening event in the three-race series will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday at the West Mesa Aquatic Center, 6705 Fortuna NW. The race features a 2-mile run and 400-meter swim.

Registration is $25 for individuals and $45 for teams and is available online at newmexicosportsonline.com through Friday. Race-day registration is $40 or $60. A USA Triathlon membership or one-day license ($10) is required to participate.

The run-and-swim series will continue with events on Feb. 25 at Sandia High School pool (3-mile run; 400-yard swim) and March 17 at West Mesa (2-mile run, 400-meter swim, 2-mile run).

Awards will go to the top male, female and team competitors. Those who participate in all three races get T-shirts.
