Adams a Terp?

........................................................................................................................................................................................

According to this and other Internet reports, former UNM wide receiver Daniel Adams is transferring to Maryland and will rejoin former Lobos head coach Mike Locksley, now the Terrapins’ offensive coordinator.

There has been no official word from UNM that Adams has been granted a release, but Adams said some time ago, via social media, that he was moving on.

Adams, a Locksley recruit from the Washington, D.C. area, was a standout during 2011 fall camp as a true freshman. He was injured early in the season, however, and never so much as caught a pass.

After Locksley was fired at midsesason and Bob Davie was hired to replace him, Adams asked for and was granted a release from his scholarship. But he changed his mind after talking to Davie and new wide-receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield.

Adams didn’t have a good spring practice, however, and seemed to struggle with Stubblefield’s demanding approach.

Adams’s eligibility  situation is interesting. He was a true freshman last year, but his limited participation would appear to have made him eligible for medical redshirt status. He’ll be required to sit out the 2012 season, but will he be a freshman or a sophomore in 2013?

If he indeed is tranferring to Maryland. Adams would be joining former UNM teammate Zach Dancel on the Terps roster. Note also the references to former Lobos Deon Long and Ricardo Young in the conversation below the Testudo Times write-up.
