ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

More than 150 sand drag race teams filled the desert with noise and plumes of sand Saturday during the second day of The Dirt 300′s Nitro Nationals at Albuquerque Dragway.

Qualifying concluded with Dennis Rieck of Carlsbad, Calif., leading the way in Top Fuel thanks to Friday’s run of 2.47 seconds. On the other end of the docket, Matthew Ludlow of Litchfield Park, Ariz., set a track record Saturday with a blast of just over 141 mph.

Also, Flagstaff’s Scott Carroll set the Top Alcohol class track mark Saturday with a run of just over 2.8 seconds.

The Dirt 300′s Nitro Nationals at Albuquerque Dragway: Eliminations 9 a.m.; finals 4:30 p.m.

Eliminations start today at 9 a.m., with Top Fuel shaking the ground at 11. Finals start at 4:30 p.m.
