Topes Today

........................................................................................................................................................................................

At Nashville (DH), 5:05 p.m.

Radio: KNML-AM (610)

Probable pitchers: Isotopes RHP Will Savage (10-3, 5.34) vs. Sounds RHP Claudio Vargas (3-1, 4.89); Isotopes RHP Blake Johnson (0-0, 6.39) vs. Sounds RHP Donovan Hand (1-0, 2.79).

Friday: Isotopes RHP Fernando Nieve pitched six scoreless innings, and three relievers finished off with a scoreless inning each as Albuquerque thumped Nashville 7-0 to open the post-All-Star break portion of the schedule.

Matt Angle homered and drove in three runs in a 3-for-4 night. Ex-Lobo Brian Cavazos-Galvez belted a two-run homer.

Transactions: The Isotopes added one player Friday, infielder Osvaldo Martinez, and will soon receive IF Elian Herrera and IF-OF Scott Van Slyke from the parent Los Angeles Dodgers. Martinez, recently acquired from the Chicago White Sox for cash, was batting .178 (38-for-214) at Triple-A Charlotte. Herrera and Van Slyke are making room as the Dodgers activiated Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. IF Joe Becker has been placed on the disabled list to make room for Martinez.

This and that: Both games today are scheduled for seven innings.

Next home game: Monday vs. Memphis
