♦ HALF THE TEAMS in the Sky would beat Wac schools in football right now.

♦ ED JOHNSON’S column, as it always does, nailed it! His Lobo football forecast I totally agree with. The opener should be a win and the best halftime show ever(IF Southern brings the band) at University Stadium. “Big check game” — last year at Arkansas, this season at Texas.

♦ TAILGATERS ARE elated with ‘no’ UNM night games, which only added insult to poor play over the last four seasons. When at OU during the Billy Sims’ era (1970’s) there were no stadium lights. Ironically, current OU Coach Bob Stoops (3 home losses in 13 seasons/UNM 3 wins in 3 seasons) complained about too many OU night games. Sorry Bob, but die-hard OU fans know being on prime-time TV means you’re winning & popular. Hopefully, UNM Coach Bob Davie ignites the Lobos!

— Boomer Sooner

♦ I REALIZE the Dream team is the greatest team assembled, however what you fail to realize is that was 20 years ago and the Europeans are far more advance now. The athletes today are faster, stronger and more athletic. So when Kobe made his statement he is not that far from the truth. On one other note anyone who doesn’t recognize John as a TRAITOR and has his own inflated ego, can only wonder if he can ever be helped.
