ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Crusoe Gongbay, who led the New Mexico Lobos in rushing last season as a true freshman, has returned to the team.
Gongbay left the program after last season, telling coach Bob Davie he intended to transfer.
“Things didn’t work out (elsewhere),” Gongbay said after Wednesday’s practice. “It’s good to be back.”
Lobos coach Bob Davie said he restored Gongbay’s scholarship because of the Rockville, Md., resident’s good academic standings, the respect his teammates hold for him, and Gongbay’s honesty and straightforwardness.
Davie said Gongbay is likely to redshirt this season, but added that’s not definite.
