Aggies Never Contend in 6th Straight Loss

LOGAN, Utah – Chuckie Keeton threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Utah State easily defeated New Mexico State 41-7 on Saturday afternoon.

The defeat was New Mexico State’s sixth consecutive after a season-opening home win over Football Championship Subdivision foe Sacramento State.

Utah State led 28-0 at halftime and now leads the all-time series 29-7. The Aggies’ (1-6, 0-3 Western Athletic Conference) score was a 6-yard pass from quarterback Andrew Manley to Austin Franklin in the third period.

Keeton was 16-of-26 for 257 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown pass to Kerwynn Williams to open the game. Keeton had seven carries for 81 yards, including 76-yard and 9-yard runs for touchdowns. Williams rushed for 82 yards, including a touchdown. Chuck Jacobs scored on a 49-yard pass from Keeton.

Manley was 19-of-37 for 177 yards. Franklin had eight receptions for 84 yards and three carries for 16 yards. Germi Morrison had a career-high 96 rushing yards.

With its win, Utah State (6-2, 2-0) is bowl eligible for the second-straight season.
