Lobos Remain in Top 20 of AP Poll, 22 in Coaches Poll (view polls)

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Saturday’s loss to San Diego State was embarrassing for the New Mexico Lobos, but the sky didn’t exactly fall on the first place team in the Mountain West.

The Lobos dropped five spots to No. 20 in the Associated Press poll released Monday and five spots to No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches poll.

UNM (17-3, 4-1 in Mountain West play) was ranked No. 15 in the AP and No. 17 in the coaches polls a week ago.

San Diego State returned to the AP rankings at No. 22 after being unranked last week The Aztecs were also No. 20 in Monday’s coaches poll.

Both UNLV and Colorado State received votes in both polls but remain unranked.

UNM plays at Wyoming on Wednesday and at home Saturday against Nevada.
