MLS: Former Lobos Lance Rozeboom, Blake Smith and Devon Sandoval are busy with their MLS teams.

Sandoval, an All-America forward, scored a goal for Real Salt Lake against New England in an exhibition on Wednesday.

On the team’s website, Real Salt Lake GM Garth Lagerwey said Sandoval “is comfortable playing with his back to goal and those kinds of players are very difficult to find domestically.”

Smith, a midfielder for the Montreal Impact, said on the team website he is adjusting to the speed of the MLS game and is gaining confidence as he goes through camp.

Rozeboom, whose rookie year was cut short by a knee injury in 2012, is vying for a starting midfielder spot with D.C. United this spring.

OH, CANADA: Lobo Ben McKendry and his Canada U-20 team have a critical game today against Nicaragua in Puebla, Mexico. The Canadians are playing for one of four berths to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey on June 21-July 13.

FUNDRAISER: The Lobos will hold a team fundraising event Sunday, featuring former Gov. Gary Johnson, who will talk about his climb up Mount Everest.

The event is at Hotel Albuquerque, beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Dom Romero at dom@unm.edu or 505-205-7809.
