Winner and still champion: Trout-Cotto

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Last weekend’s Showtime boxing card featuring Adrien Broner and Paulie Malignaggi in the main event got great ratings — but not as good as Showtime’s all-time top show, featuring Miguel Cotto and Las Cruces’ Austin Trout last December. The highly popular Cotto probably gets most of the credit, considering Trout-Cotto topped even the April 2013 card featuring Trout and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in the main event.

Even so, Trout can say he was part of two of the top four most-watched boxing programs in the premium cable network’s history.
