Tuesday recap of former Lobos in NBA Summer League

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Former Lobo Tony Snell had 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with six rebounds, four assists and two steals in Tuesday’s Chicago Bulls’ 80-78 overtime win over the Portland Trailblazers in NBA Summer League action in Las Vegas, Nev.

In three games, Snell has averaged 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He left UNM after his junior season and was drafted in the first round (No. 20 overall) by the Bulls in last month’s NBA Draft.

Ex-Lobos J.R. Giddens (Miami Heat) and Drew Gordon (Sacramento Kings) also saw action in Tuesday games. Giddens had five points in six minutes in his first action of the summer while Gordon had four points and six rebounds in his third game of the season.

Both Giddens and Gordon are looking to make NBA rosters for the coming season while Snell is under a guaranteed contract.

Former Hobbs Eagle and Vanderbilt graduate Jeffery Taylor is second in summer league scoring averaging 21.0 points in his three games for the Charlotte Bobcats.
