The Oct. 5 New Mexico-New Mexico State football game will be televised by Root Sports.
The Denver-based network will televise five Lobo football games this year as part of its 10-game Mountain West Conference football package.
At this point, all but two of the 12 Lobo football games in 2013 will have TV coverage. The opener against Texas-San Antonio and the Sept. 28 home game against UNLV are not scheduled to be on TV as of today.
Other Lobo games that will be covered by Root Sports are:
• New Mexico at Wyoming, Oct. 12, 1:30 p.m.
• Utah State at New Mexico, Oct. 19, 7 p.m.
• New Mexico at San Diego State, Nov. 2, 6 p.m.
• Colorado State at New Mexico , Nov. 16, 5 p.m.
“Generating interest from a wider audience is critical as we build the football program into what we feel it should be,” UNM athletic director Paul Krebs said in a news release.
Root Sports reaches 2.5 million households across nine states.
“New Mexico football will be an outstanding addition to our college football lineup this season,” Root Sports general manager David Woodman said in the release. “We are excited to be a part of the Lobos’ growing football tradition under head coach Bob Davie and look forward to being the home of New Mexico football this fall.”
