Albuquerque woman charged with 15 felony counts for giving 18-year-olds alcohol

........................................................................................................................................................................................

A southwest Albuquerque woman was charged Saturday for providing alcohol to 15 people, all of them under the age of 21, who showed up for a party she threw at her home for a relative, according to a criminal complaint.

Alma Hernandez was having a party for her nephew in the 1300 block of Amole Drive SW in the early Saturday morning hours. At about 2 a.m., someone called police complaining of possible underage drinking.

According to the complaint, when police arrived Hernandez said that she thought it was OK for anyone 18 or older to drink in her home, which she told police that she knew the youths were doing.

Fifteen people younger than 21 admitted to police they’d been drinking at Hernandez’s house, the complaint said.

Albuquerque police issued them non-traffic citations and released them.

Hernandez was booked at Metropolitan Detention Center on 15 felony charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and held on $37,500 bail, according to the complaint.
