WACO, Texas – The Fairacres Little League team from Las Cruces couldn’t sneak up on one last regional opponent on Wednesday.

Fairacres, who surprised most onlookers in winning four games and reaching the regional final, fell one win short of becoming the second team from New Mexico to advance to the Little League World Series. The lone qualifier, the 1956 Roswell Lions Hondo team, won it all.
New Mexico had a world champion Little League softball team in the same age group last year, when the Eastdale girls won six World Series games by a combined 67-5 score en route to a championship.
Jacob Garza pitched the first 5â…” innings for Corpus Christi in a dominant, virtually flawless performance, striking out 11 batters and walking four.
Garza also homered in the fifth inning to finish a 3-for-3 day offensively.
Wilson Bannister took the loss for Fairacres. He allowed 10 hits and all six runs, four earned, in five innings.
