Free clinic offered on child safety seats

........................................................................................................................................................................................

Parents can receive assistance on the proper use of child passenger safety seats in a vehicle at a clinic sponsored by a New Mexico state agency.

The Department of Transportation and the nonprofit group Safer New Mexico Now will hold the free clinic in Albuquerque on Aug. 26 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kohl’s department store in the Cottonwood Corners shopping center.

The department said certified technicians will provide information on installing and selecting a child safety seat.

State law requires safety or booster seats for children under the age of seven or who weigh less than 60 pounds. Booster seats also are required for children through age 12 if a vehicle’s seat belt doesn’t properly fit them.
